I find it curious to have seen ppl speak gleefully about how amusing some lurid scenes in a horror like movie could be but later on that same day being uncomfortable and silent-ish when hearing about the sentiment of and how others have been mis-percieved when it comes socially tense racializing, myself included. "We live under continual threat of two equally fearful, but seemingly opposed, destinies: unremitting banality and
inconceivable terror. It is fantasy, served out in large rations by the popular arts, which allows most people
to cope with these twin specters."--Susan Sontag.
My point is given how the only differentation with emotion at times is the 'timing and dosage' it is majorly erroneous to disjoin what is considered horror if not overtly 'scary' with what is sad even the sort of indignation provoking ennui laden sadness--what separates horror fiction from transgressive fiction.

Well, I did it. I read the entire Sandman series in one day. I started at 11:00 am yesterday and finished somewhere around 11:00 pm or later. Unsurprisingly, I didn't get much sleep.
Years ago I posted my reaction to the ending here (
