My mom arrived today to visit us, she hasn't been here in months. As usual she didn't bother visiting me, went straight to my brothers and sister's place. I know she has jet lag but I bet 2.7 million dollars that she won't bother to visit us for at least 7 days from now. It's funny once on facebook she posted a picture of someone on a motorcycle on the highway with the caption 'When grandma hears her grandchild is sick'

Funny thing is just a few weeks prior to her posting that, my son had had pneumonia and was hospitalized, she didn't visit once. Nor did she visit many other times he was sick, or all of us were sick.

She didn't even come over to babysit when Ex H refused to babysit the younger so I could take my elder son to emergency. She knew what was going on and it was a 50 minute drive.

I'm supposed to emphasize because 'she has Aspergers too' according to my sister. (nOT diagnosed, she just is guessing). So? I have ASD and I always go to visit when my kid doesn't hav etherapy.

Mothers are supposed to be loving and caring.
Not in my experience.
I'm sorry she's so neglectful, it must hurt. :(

I shouldn’t have written that, I know she has high anxiety. It’s probably all internal and she doesn’t even know how to articulate it as in their time and culture everything was so suppressive.

Sorry Raleigh fr bringing up smthing unnecessarily unpleasant.

My dad has been voice messaging us from Abu dhabi so at least he compensates.

He said to me once, ‘I have a mother’s love for you all. I am more affectionate than her.’

Of course with HIM everything has to be a comparison.

How do the slim people here stay that way?

Apparently I have hashimoto's, which I'd never heard of before and am still not entirely sure what it is.

Ohhh that is a very strict diet then. My mom has it. But is there hope to eventually taper off the diet?

My mom is taking an experimental treatment which they are hoping will replace need fr thyroid hormone

Ah so the worry propels you to move rather than freezing you.

the treatment for hashimoto's is thyroid hormone. i've never heard of treating hashimoto's by diet. i'll look into it, but there's not likely a lot of evidence to support restrictive diets.

i googled hashimoto's diet and found a bunch of .com (unreliable sites) and this reliable(from the national institute of health) one, which explains the whole disease well: https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-inform ... os-disease

the only thing you need to avoid is too much iodine, so seaweed and some cough syrups.

My cat once pulled a whole lamb shank out of my slow cooker while I ducked out to the garden for some herbs.
The shanks were even under water (it hadn't gotten hot yet, luckily!)
And it was when she was about the same size as the cat in the video.
