1. Do not set up sleeping quarters near an anthill. Those little things climb trees.
2. Compression socks is good at protecting against blisters for long range walks.
3. Bring more water than you need. And then some. And a lifestraw weighs nothing.
4. The forest is full of food at this time of year. Could have eaten myself full on berries and plants.
5. If you intend to check internet in the forest, don't forget to bring your 4G adapter :P
6. Bring your meds. I could have slept under the stars tonight.

That a couple of Thermo-Alchemists, an early Mercurial Geists and a handful of burn spells make for an hilariously quick game!

that American medical insurance [at least all the non-Cadillac plans] covers basically nothing.

if you have an a/c unit, whenever the weather gets hot, turn it on straightaway so that it doesn't end up having to "chase" the heat.

Placed a bottle of chilled water in front of an air-conditioned fan tower, and let the wind blow the heat from the room. :)

I learned that installing just a heatsink on the Raspberry Pi computer in fact has no effect on temperature in the end, it merely slows the process of heating up under load. It might help temperatures under light work loads but not under a consistent load.

A heatwave or muggy spell makes everyone a bit tetchy but I'd rather trade this for a waterbed, at least I could burn of f some of my fever that has analgesic properties.

I learned, once again, that one should not spill Hawaiian Punch on a white shirt.

I can't sleep on a waterbed as they lack back support in general. but I have the best of both worlds, a cooling mattress pad [like what hospitals use] that lets me cool the circulating water in it down to 55F. it enables me to sleep at night in the summer months. it was worth going into debt for a while.
