^^^gosh, you are fortunate to live near culture. i'd have to drive 3 hours to see something like that. anyways, the last time I got to see a live orchestra was in 1972.

^ it was the very first time i had been in that theatre. for such an enormous building, the actual theater/stage was a bit underwhelming, frankly. but the orchestra itself was amazing.

it was not much larger than the theater at my junior high, but that is an exceptional jr high theatre, let me tell you.

do you remember what pieces they played in 1972?

a brahms piece [can't remember the title], a wagner piece [probably "ride of the Valkyries"] and some novelty number called "the hamburger man" [not to be confused with recent stuff]. it was during a fifth grade field trip for cultural enrichment.

Vikings didn't have horns on their helmets...or wings, despite what Marvel thinks.

the conn 653 theatre [home] organ was very unreliable due to countless defective solder joints. a pity, because it was the last best organ they made.

The used video game store downtown where I live just plain sucks. It's mainly games no one wants because they're bad, and I don't know how they're selling them because you couldn't *give* the games away. I was just down there, it was very disappointing. :(

very nice.

i appreciated the fact that the venue was almost all sound and did not have a whole lot of visuals going for it, not like a lot events/films i've gone to see.

i could recline (as much as i could) and close my eyes and not miss out on a whole lot. but i think those next to me did not appreciate that.

yes, the coughing and laughing and gossiping all around me would bother me to no end. the music deserves far better respect.

that it does.

they didn't seem to mind actually, during intermission the person seated next to me (right) asked me if i came here often and if i was a musician.

i told him i did piano..for a bit.

i still wonder how i would have ended up if i never gave up piano lessons and still practiced today. things may have been more peachy. :|
