Hi, everyone.
Thursday, the surgery day, was a bit of an endurance gauntlet, to say the least. We went there earlier than expected, at 9:30 and after a bit of waiting, I got changed into hospital gown and hair net and plastic-y shoes. I was so embarrassed when I looked in the mirror, I didn't want to go out of the washroom. But the nurses there were so kind and gentle. Then I got to sit in the recovery room 'til 11:30 or so, and then it was off to the surgery room. Everything went fine until they put the anesthesia mask over my face. I can't stand having anything covering my face, and I panicked a bit. I had a hard time breathing deeply. But then--boom, I was wide awake at 2:00 or so.
After awhile, I thought it was all over, but I had to go back at suppertime because the spot was bleeding, and we had to wait two and a half hours in the waiting room, while I was crying and miserable and could feel it bleeding. My mum was furious.
Then we had to wait some more for the doctor to come, and when he did, I accidentally got a glimpse of the area on my leg when he took part of the bandage off. I was still crying and distressed, but he added an extra stitch and the bleeding stopped. All in all, it was around 8:30 by the time we got home again.
But I'm feeling loads better now.
It'll be two weeks before I can take the bandage off, though. *sigh*
