Yes, but again picky.
Iain M Banks’ Culture series rather spoilt me for most of the rest... although I do still have a soft spot for Kim Stanley Robinson’s Mars trilogy, and a few Philip K Dick novels are still in my possession.

HGW can be quite fun I seem to remember...
The sentient spaceships in the Culture series crack me up.

Yes, there are some really funny lines in there, Wells had a sense of humour coming out in some of the most serious moments.

The movie they made in 1933 (!) kept some of that: I still remember a scene where a pair of trousers were chasing someone and singing "Here we go gathering nuts in may"

I'm not inclined to paranoia, so take that into account: with experience and information, I don't feel, I know many of them are. It's often a "test" but they can also be a deliberate trap.

Yeah, and the scene was in the book too, I think of it as a tragicomedy.

It happens less as I get older: but I can still remember situations where I’d been asked a question and I thought there was no possible answer that didn’t result in ridicule or worse.
Probably 50/50 me being older, and the people around me being older I reckon.

How many pairs of shoes do you own?

I don't know. My parents often gave me shoes or sandals that are too large for me. I don't know really. Maybe 4 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of boots?

What do you do to transition between settings eg from car to library, to make it easier? Or do you have no trouble with transitions?

I have had that happen.

I just said the simplest thing that popped into my mind and didn't pay attention. I think showing your detachment and going to some other activity like reading or doodling can work to make them go away.

My brother Mustafa often does this though. He flips things into jokes in a way that makes you feel excluded while being made fun of.

Sometimes I just pause outside for a bit - take a deep breath, look at something nice in my surroundings. But I often just have my headphones on and stay "in my head" during transitions, so basically I detach myself.

Would you travel to Italy for wicked cheap right now despite the coronavirus being there?

I would like to go to Italy, but not now. I really don't want to risk getting sick with anything while traveling.

How do feel about the idea of traveling in general right now? As for me, I'm not too keen on it. I will do my traveling by looking at different places on YouTube.

I agree, I'd like to go someday but now probably isn't the right time.

Have you ever traveled on an airplane?

Eight times if you include return flights: every time I’ve been more anxious than the last.
I’m hoping to avoid doing it again.

How are you with underground railways?

I don't like being underground for shopping, nor living (there was a time I lived in a basement), nor for travel.

I can tolerate it if unavoidable, but it gives me a yucky feeling.

Karamazov, may I ask what stressed you about flying?

I don't like small spaces, but they have to be very small to bother me. So I have no issues with underground railways or using the subway. Not crazy about the malls though and I need my air to the point I keep a small window open even in winter, so I would have mixed feelings about living in the basement.
