Yeah thats what I say when I read the bible, its detail are pretty damn uncanny. Its pretty mind blowing but I don't know, I probably hurt Christianity more then anything because of my poor behavior but I do encourage people to read it for themselves, its... bizarre to say the least. I am kinda wondering if it has such accuracy because of time travel, sounds stupid but consider that John supposedly saw this stuff first hand and the bible also has two witnesses in the end. This makes me curious to know when John actually died or if he has yet because God asks somewhere, can't remember where and google is failing me, what it matters if John lives to the end of time.
when I was 12 my fundie older brother dragged me to a church where a preacher had a presentation of signs of the end times, and among those signs [forgot the bible passages he pointed to for corroboration] was that cops would be out of control and that payback would include ambushing cops en masse, that when that happened it was a bona fide sign that we were in the end times.
I haven't read that yet but to be fair I haven't read all of the bible and other religious text that goes along with it (Yes there are books that are supposedly not in the bible that date to that time period but I would be very cautious with these). However, to be fair the bible does talk about violence and the way it does it is important, its nation against nation and
kingdom against kingdom. A kingdom doesn't have to be a nation but rather just a group of people in a given location. Rather it be Christians, police, Muslims, African Americans and even a community of autism. Another thing that could go hand and hand with what he is saying is the bible says mens hearts will fail them, this could mean a number of things but statistically a good number of these cops who shoot people that don't need to be shot have PTSD and are war veterans.
I can see how he came to this conclusion cause of the violence in the end times but unless I am missing something and I might, I think caution is a good idea. When you make a blanket statement like that, its not being very open minded. I know that sounds odd coming from a religious nut like me who should be all about it but its important that you don't go over board or add to the text. From what I read that would fit but its not necessary a prefect fit and I think its very important to read the bible and compare to today but not stretch the bible to fit today.
Anyway I am sure Raleigh appreciate me hijacking his (or her, I can't remember lol, sorry!) thread with more religious ramble so I'll stop but thats interesting, I would have liked to have heard that sermon, thanks for sharing
