Did you know in Ancient Chinese culture peaches were believed to bring long life and even immortality? There was believed to be a special peach tree that bloomed once every thousand years or so and the peaches were gathered just for the Gods to eat because it gave them everlasting life.

I think I may have one of those trees. It hasn't bloomed at all in 10 years.

I feel like the peach is the perfect symbol for Georgia. It's a sweet, tangy, plump, and a charming fruit. Just like people from Georgia. But it also has a hard pit in the center. Reflecting on how deceptively pleasant southerners can be.
And that irony of Georgia being burned to the ground during the American Civil War, just like a peach orchid being engulfed by fire. They used that same symbolism for House Tyrell and their plant-themed rose insignia being burned in 'wildfire' by Cersei.
Maybe during the Civil War the peach trees were growing and spreading too far into northern territory and a drought brought on by winter caused the trees to engulf in flames? 
"Winter is coming. The North remembers!" 
At least those peaches grew back though.
