My father offered to help me replace my PS3 that died in June... Though, I don't know that I want to bother with Sony, at least for the time being, so I'll probably decline. Their greedy practices have gotten quite out of hand with digital content share protection, and archaic methods toward it's regulation.
Apparently you can only register game download content to two PS3 consoles. I thought, "Well alright, I've only lost one anyway", and then realized after signing into their website, and seeing a second activation, that I had activated my account on my former girlfriend's PS3 when I had last visited her a couple years back(we were long distance so it made sense on a six week visit). Apparently with PS3, you have to manually deactivate your account on the activated console or deal with Sony customer service. So, I cannot turn on the dead PS3 in my closet to do so, and I'm certainly not going to bother my ex's peace with something so petty. Though, I certainly hope she doesn't run into the same problem at some point too.
As stupid as it is, I really hate phones and making me call for something that I really shouldn't have to, actually is a deal breaker right now, as I'm too tired for such stupid unnecessary stress. Also, unlike Xbox, even once they allow activation, you have to be signed in online to use the content because it's tied to the individual profile(the sign in profile, not the online account) of the PS3 it was downloaded... my internet here is quite unreliable to hold a solid connection, so I'd have to re-buy the content anyway in many cases because of that. I think my OCD traits would require me to set up a new profile and buy everything of import again so that it didn't feel "damaged", and I don't want to deal with those painfully irrational feelings nor the redundant expenses either, in addition to feeling conflicted with getting rid of my tag which I became so accustomed to... as if it wasn't bad enough that the hard drives are encrypted so all of my past game saves are trapped in my dead console aside from my Borderlands save which is on a USB drive somewhere.
Certainly feels time to focus on something more pleasant.
