The unpopular WP members club
(Not saying she wasn't wonderful, I liked her a lot but you know what I mean).
There are few Isabellas out there.
We responded to your post when you were thinking about leaving.
Have you forgotten?
That's because I made a thread, so people read it and replied. But I don't think I would literally be missed if I actually left the forum, despite having posted here almost every day for the last 10 years.
I noticed that the thread about her departing was posted on the same day as she made the last post, and in her last post she didn't talk about her departure. So I am wondering whether
a) She posts several times a day so after not seeing her post for a few hours some people were concerned
Or
b) She sent PM to someone that she was planning to depart and either the person she PM-ed made a thread themselves or they PM-ed someone else who made that thread
In any case, if I were to make a thread that I depart, nobody will bother to reply. So if people replied to your thread you are one step ahead of me.
I think people would reply to your thread if you made one about leaving, I promise.
I post here pretty much every day, but last year I went away for a week and didn't visit the site at all, which is the longest I've gone without making myself known here, and nobody noticed, as I didn't see any threads asking where Joe90 is. Not that I expect people to make a silly fuss over me, but it still annoys me when some people get all the attention even when they're not around any more, while others just go unnoticed.

Your departure would go unnoticed. Mine would be celebrated.

Don't be silly. People on WP don't even celebrate a bully or troll that leaves or was banned or whatever, so they're not going to celebrate the departure of a nice, decent member like you.

In fact, I'd notice anyone who could disappear. No need to declare about it.
I just don't speak out of it.
I'd rather respect people's choice to stay, leave or return -- I'd rather trust others can take care of themselves.
... Unless I suddenly woke up and decide to become some social coordinator, had an urge to be all friendly or something.
I'd choose not to be involved in any members dynamics.

It's nice to hear you'd describe me as such, but I'm quite certain there's plenty of posters who would insist I'm a bully for calling them out on certain matters when their ego doesn't agree with my argument.
I'm often curious how posters who read but don't really participate in PPR feel, because it's definitely understandable that people who are less argumentative or who were less prone to getting mouthy with bullies (and thus less practiced at it) might be shy about getting involved in the scrum, but at the same time it's not as though those folks opinions are less important than those who do speak up. It's often tiring to feel like no one else cares enough to say anything or that no one agrees, but on the other hand I know neither of those are inherently fair assumptions even if they might feel fair at times.

@Edna, I read your post but I don't know what to put in response, so I thought I'd just let you know that your post didn't go ignored.
@funeralxemprire I'm sorry this has happened to you. You're still a great member of WP, and I've never had any problems with you.
I think what makes a member so popular on WP is how intelligent they come across in their posts. I may perfect my posts so that they are easy to read, but I don't use big words like some people here do. I have explanations in my head about subjects that are frequently discussed here, like what neurotypical really means or that there is such a thing as mild autism, but I just can't come up with good words to really get through to others and make them think "oh, well, I'm convinced." Instead I just end up going around the houses, using too many simple words, that make my post seem too long. I'm doing it now.
I don't even read the PPR threads, let alone participate. I avoid reading it because it's usually loads of threads of American people arguing about Donald Trump, or people discussing things that I find too complicated. As a simple person, I feel that if I posted in the PPR my posts would either get ignored or people would sigh at my posts and think "it's no point arguing with an idiot". Because sometimes I do feel like I'm an idiot compared to a lot of Aspies here. Like I said in the previous paragraph, the Aspies that can make their posts so intellectual by using big words wind up being the more popular ones. Fnord is one example. He's really popular here.

Plenty of posters seem quite respectable based on matters other than just being persuasive in their arguments though, a lot of the posters who get discussed fondly years after leaving seem to be the kind, helpful ones. Being persuasive or intelligent or funny all help, but let's face it, being able to express empathy and support for other people in a similar boat means a lot in this community of sailors of similar boats.
Maybe I'm thinking of people who are well liked and rarely disliked, some of the people your criteria would rank higher might have lots more overall 'substantial' opinions, but more detractors alongside their fans (which is a perfectly good measure too just not what first came to mind for me).

A lot of members here probably see me as self-obsessed but I am not like that in real life. I may not reply much to other people's problems here (sometimes I do though, when I can think of something useful to say), but I have stresses of my own that I find hard to deal with, so all I can do is relate to other people's stress more so than give helpful advice (I do express that I can relate). If I do have helpful advice to offer then I do give it, but I'm not very knowledgeable so I don't always have very good advice.
I use WP more as a public diary sort of thing, where I can spill out whatever's on my mind. Expressing myself is my way of releasing negative emotions, and it's even better that I'm anonymous here.

There's nothing wrong with navel-gazing here. Aren't most of us here (at least partially) to figure ourselves out?

I can only ask you in this more socially detached sense (of being anonymous on a forum) - but please, I hope you don't trouble yourself too much about this issue. I hesitate to give advice to people too (just decided not to on another post in fact haha) because most of what I have to say is monologuing about personal experiences to relate to the post, and I don't know how helpful I am. It's good to vent your feelings, and good to do it in an autistic-friendly environment where (I hope) you know many people can in some way understand. If you are stressed in your own life, you are not obligated to carry other peoples' burdens either - give advice or help where you can but you shouldn't feel down on yourself when you can't.

Sometimes those posts are nice just as a distraction from one's own s**t.

The “lefties” are still alive and well.....as are the “righties.”
People left the Site because they were upset. And that’s a pity. It shouldn’t have happened that way.
I wish people could just argue politics without it getting all personal. The Internet and what’s said in it is not a reflection of real life. It’s more like how the media portrays real life.
Is there anybody here less popular than me? You guys never respond to anything I post unless it's a political post, and you only ever respond to my political posts to always put me down and say that my opinion about things or my worries about matters in this country are of no value. Plus you guys seem to hold stuff against me that I did or said ages ago.
If I ever try to not make a topic about politics it dies quickly so I feel like everything I post has to be about Trump or else I get ignored, and when I do post about Trump or whatever many of you guys get snarky with me. ![]()
