On assumptions, I took it literally. I was thinking about assumptions in the wider sense. In that we group things we experience and make assumptions about things based on that grouping. For example, if I saw a horse I'd assume it could neigh, based on my experience with other horses. Human brains could not process the world if we had to deal with everything on an individual basis, there's too many things. So we assume. I don't think we can not assume.
But I see you mean assumptions about people. Is it reasonable for us to insist that others see us as individuals and not make assumptions? I'm not sure it is for the same reason as above and this is a difficulty I have when understanding the debate around identity politics, gender pronouns and things of that ilk. But this isn't the place for that discussion.
I don't know is my answer. Needs more consideration/input.
I don't find either particularly therapeutic. I can get lost in a sad mood and struggle to find my way out. I'm not sure I learn anything in there. Bad moods seem to happen when I'm fighting the reality of the world around me, when I'm seeing clearly I don't get bad moods.
What is your preferred moon phase?
