You know, my first instinct was to blurt out a bunch of facts about Lou Reed and Metal Machine Music :D

How he leaned two guitars against two amps, hit record, and went to a bar?

All the jargon in the liner notes?

The Amine Ring. Dextrorotory components synthesis of sympathomimetic musics.

No Synthesizers
No Arp
No Instruments?

Who would pass through this record? Open to endless interpretation, endless lies, endless life.

I used to listen to it at work, like silence with a personality.

There's some music that I can't imagine the world without. It's cosmic.

Can't imagine life before The Beatles, or how they made up those songs from nothing when they didn't exist.

Same with Lou Reed.

"Like silence with a personality" I was thinking last night that The Cure sounds really "clean" like fresh air.

They did have a really clean, spacey sound. Like lethargic flowers..slow-motion beauty. I'm not an obsessive, but have a lot of their albums anyway. I feel like Robert Smith should be talked about with Ray Davies and people like that, but I suppose the makeup and image throw people off. He just seems like a great British pop writer, to me...following after all the 60s icons. As much as I like Weller, there's something more vital in The Cure.

I love The Cure. Didn't really find them until late 90s except for Love Cats.

We play Bloodflowers and Disintegration on repeat here most days.

I keep telling myself it's just hype but you're right, it's not. It's really profound stuff.

I love his guyliner too but that's just me. 8)

I admit , I didn't give Robert Smith a chance, cause of the goofy facepaint look. I thought he was a clown. Though i did like a few videos of his. One with the spider. One where hes in in a cupboard falling off a cliff.

Now I've listened to most of his albums, i think he's really good. Versatile. He's eccentric, but i can appreciate his creativity more now.

Lol at 'love cats,' his charisma is off the charts, gesturing etc, apparently he wrote the song and filmed the video , extremely intoxicated, so that explains it.

I am always ejaculating my unwanted feelings all over people & society.

Ah well, I won't be oppressed. I would rather die than be a general slave.

I choose to be a slave for people who I respect.

"Lovecats," "The Caterpillar," "A Night Like This," "Just Like Heaven," "The Hanging Garden," "From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea," etc.

"A Forest" copies early Public Image Ltd. and makes it sound easy. I love U2, but they made it sound like work.

"Boys Don't Cry" is like their "Love Me Do": rickety, simple, just hanging together...catchy as hell.

(Guess I know what I'm putting on next.)

^^ I love his love for his wife. It's so deep, almost ethereal. :skull:

There Is No If -- just kill me now. It's so real.

How do people make those simple observations?

Funny you mention U2 - I can't stand them.

Same.

Them and Aerosmith are the two bands that I both can't stand, but I also find their releases get worse over time, which almost makes their classics become tolerable by comparison.

Robert Smith. I always knew Trey Parker sand Matt Stone are big fans. (South Park.) Apparently, learning more about him, yeah he has a wife, married along time. STRANGE, I always got gay vibes watchin his videos. lol. But somebody pointed out ,paradoxically, even though he has an effeminate image, he was probably one of the few genuinely hetero people in music, unlike alot of other 80s musicians, who were closeted, projecting a macho image. I also had hard time believing Prince was straight at first. I guess it was the just the 80's Androgyny.
