I'm too old for all of that...but I was probably too old for it when I was in the books'/movies' target demographic.

Twilight is awful. The movie was the worst movie I've ever seen (and I've seen some stinkers) and the books were mediocre. Worse yet New Moon was the worst of the books so if I have to see that I will kill myself. Why is it so popular? I know a girl who claimed she was a vampire and drank strawberry juice or something in her donate blood drink bottle. So that was odd. Now she's gotten over that but with New Moon I am fearing a repeat. Also as many have said SINCE WHEN DO VAMPIRES SPARKLE? Sunlight either kills them or doesn't kill them because of some variation. Most vampire books and movies I like. As I said the books were mediocre and the movie was a sleeper. Btw I'll add my recomendation of a good vampire series. It's called Vampire Academy (for the record the vamps are different to normal vamps but it has the classic ones too so it's not a story about a messed up pixie whose had its wings chopped off and called a vampire)

My landlady’s daughter owns the fourth volume of the series (or maybe she just borrowed it from her friend). Last time I was there, I decided to read it for the lack of a better thing to do in the empty flat. When I skimmed through it previously, I found this book terribly boring, but that time I arrived at a conclusion it wasn’t that bad, overrated, yes, not the eight wonder of the world but still pretty interesting. It did harm to the series that it’s hyped up so much – otherwise it would be perceived as what it is – just an interesting story for teens, nothing more. Bella was terribly annoying to me with her attitude to her pregnancy, she just should have had an abortion and it would finish the whole problem.

I saw the second movie in theaters today. A bunch of the girls in the audience would scream every time Jacob took his shirt off (which was often). It was funny.

What really bothers and confuses me is the fact that the New Moon soundtrack is predominantly indie rock/pseudo-indie rock. And apparently, a song from Radiohead's last record was featured prominently in the first film. I have no idea why bands like Radiohead and Grizzly Bear decide to sell their music to the film series - sure, it's a good way to make a buck, but what about integrity? Just the fact of being associated with something that people are so divided on?

I read three pages of the first book. The writing quality was embarrassing, and that may perhaps be giving Stephenie Meyer too much credit. If anyone tries to argue, "At least our teenage girls are reading...", the argument is moot: if they see Meyer's writing as a role model to what "good writing" is they are going to get nowhere in being able to make judgments about writing, or being able to write themselves.

I'm joining the club. It really bothered me how the books were so obviously written for teens. In the beginning, it was so-so, but Breaking Dawn completely threw me off. It's not dark and twisted enough to be a good vampire tale... too wishy-washy, too sex appeal-based.

The Twilight Zone, however, is the best show ever. But that's a totally different thing.

I heard that edward's actor actually hates twilight. From what i've, h even met four fangirls who cut themselves for him. Twilight fans can be scary.

Count me in! I bought the book series for my 15 year old niece, because she begged so prettily for it. But otherwise, I am going to jettison this title from my Netflix queue, never to darken my thoughts again! :x I hate herd powered hype.

i hate twilight. I read the whole series. The last is particularly terrible, and totally ruined any chance the series had of making me like it. Bella is a wimp who needs men to protect her.

Has the anti-Twilight wiki been mentioned in this thread yet?

I love that site.

I have the movie downloaded on my computer but I'm too scared to watch! 8O

I have been considering getting the first book from the library.

One thing I have done though was read a few Twilight fanfictions stories. The fact that 99.99% of Twilight fanfiction is AU fanfiction is a warning in itself that the original books do not sound like a good read.

Does it terrify anyone else that these books are so popular given that the main couple is Emo? Wth?

For real? I thought they were vampires or something. God, it's so hard to tell sometimes in this day and age.

Damn you My Chemical Romance!
