Alex has been doing quite a bit of feather plucking. Unless he actually has a medical problem, it most likely has do how he's being treated. Either his caretakers are not feeding him properly or he is not getting much attention and mental stimulation. I have a feeling this wonderful and intelligent bird is being allowed to languish all day in a laboratory. If that's the case, i'd prefer to see Alex among the wildflowers rather than one part guinea pig and another part circus freak doing circus tricks for stupid humans.

Alex died a few years back (not long after the footage was recorded). I'm fairly sure he was pretty old when that footage was taken. Griffin is the new African Grey Parrot that they're working with.
