When you have higher processing speeds within a computer, parallel transferred data is more prone to errors due to non-simultaneity than sequential data transfer.

come on people, you can do better than this.. ;) i bet every member of WP has at least one interesting fact, if not hundreds.

cookies & cupcakes if you share them.. curses &... stuff if you don't

More than 200 species of ant farm fungi for food. They gather compost for the fungus to grow on, fertilise it with their dung, prune it and even fumigate it with a powerful bacteria to keep it parasite-free. But they don't get it all their own way. Several species find out too late that fungi can sometimes farm them. Spores work their way inside the ant's body and release an "override" pheromone that scrambles its orderly world. Confused and reeling, it finds itself climbing to the top of a tall plant stalk and clamping itself there with its jaws. Once in place, the fungus's fruiting body erupts as a spike from the insect's brain and sprinkles a dust of spores on the ant's unsuspecting sisters toiling below. 8O

Ostriches lay the smallest egg in comparison to their body size for any bird in the world.

On September 10th, 1945, a farmer named Lloyd Olsen chopped off 5 and a half month old Mike the chicken's head with an axe in readiness for the cooking pot, but the headless rooster continued to live for 18 months....
Although most of Mike's head was in a jar, part of his brain stem and one ear remained on his body. Since the majority of a chicken's reflex actions are controlled by the brain stem, Mike was able to function relatively normally.
Lloyd would use an eye-dropper to feed Mike water and grain, and they would tour the U.S.A and charge people 25 cents to see the chicken, dubbed 'Wonder Chicken'.
Sadly, Mike died one day on his way back from an appearance in Arizona when he began to choke and Lloyd was unable to find the eye-dropper used to clear his open esophagus.
