Jaywalking isn't illegal here.

Illegal things I have done:
1. Ripped a CD without the artist's permission (technically illegal, but you'll never be prosecuted for it as the artist won't generally mind)
2. Playing music that I have not purchased a license for (I only do so with music a close family member has purchased a license for though, I don't pirate music willy nilly).
3. Calling 999 without due reason (I was very young and just wanted to see what happened)

While every crime violates the law, not every violation of the law counts as a crime; for example: breaches of contract and of other civil law may rank as "offences" or as "infractions". Modern societies generally regard crimes as offences against the public or the state, as distinguished from torts (wrongs against private parties that can give rise to a civil cause of action).

Copying music "illegally" is a Civil Offence, not a Criminal Offence.
