Gah! Your avatar scares me! When I was a little kid, I had awful nightmares about huge letters rearing up in front of me!

It doesn't blink too much. I mean, look at some of the ads we have to put up with here.

Seriously, though, it's very nice. I've always wanted to see the northern lights. They came down to Utah one year (like more than 5 yrs ago), but they were very, very faint.

Were they faint when you saw them? They were pretty faint here, but everything is faint in SLC due to the lights. You pretty much have to drive to the West Desert to get a good look at stuff like meteor showers, etc. I was working night shift at the time, so I couldn't get out there on the days it was really strong. So, it seemed really faint, but it sure did f*ck with a lot of radio & communication equipment.

Do you live in a bigger city? It seems like in SLC you had to know that you were looking for it to notice due to the city lights. Not like NYC, or anything, but bad enough that it interferes with looking at stars, meteors, or the northern lights when they were visible.

Stupid question... are northern lights dependant on the climate? Is global warming going to ruin them?

no i live in flagstaff. it has a population of about 50,000 im guessing. the northern lights are radiation from the sun entering earths atmosphere, its reacting with the magnetosphere usually at the poles

Mine's a cartoon that no one has probably ever seen before - it was quite popular in the Czech Republic (and still is). I don't care, though, I like it.
