If I ever got the opportunity (which is unlikely), I wouldn't mind living in the US for a while at least. (Whether or not I'd wish for it to be permanent is not something I intend to make a guess about until I've actually been in the unlikely situation of living there.)

be careful what you wish for, please. health care here is unaffordable. our cops are heavily muscled authoritarian brutes at best. "protect and serve" the upper classes is what they're about. they are an occupying force with military hand-me-down equipment for the rest of us. Scandinavia or your own fine nation are far better places to live for most of us.

I appreciate your concern, but my own "fine nation" hasn't helped me one bit, despite it all looking oh-so-good on paper. I have had dreams of leaving, even for just a while, for most of my life, preferably to a country where I wouldn't start from scratch with the language.
I know US healthcare is awful, that is true, but that wouldn't keep me from grabbing an opportunity if it ever came along, especially if it was a temporary thing. I hardly ever go to the doc here, so hopefully I would last for my duration over there.
I know there are a lot of crappy cops out there, but I've never had any problems with cops here or when I visited England or NYC, so I'm taking my chances that I wouldn't in the future either.

I think of beautiful scenery, vikings, happy people, cool flags, awesome history, and the cool Norse language.

this American would be a LOT happier if only there was a decent and affordable health care system in place for the working class [who fall between the cracks in PPACA, such as category 8 vets] and not just for the upper classes as is the case here.

Migrate. You have a marketable skill (audio engineering IIRC).

no passport, those are tough for average americans to get, many bureaucratic snafus involved such as permanent loss of one's original birth certificate. my sister didn't get hers back for 2 years. also, residency requirements of most western foreign nations [especially the commonwealth] require college degrees, proof of no diseases, proof of the ability to make money. I can't provide those things so I am locked out.

My friend. He’s in Norway and he sends me beautiful pictures from his country. I’d love to one day visit him.

Affordable healthcare

Cold- my friend always lets me know what the temperature is which seems pretty chilly for someone like me.

Fir trees

Fjords

Cabins with those roofs of grass

Biking trails

Vikings- sorry but I had to say. It’s a common joke between my friend and me.

I’m still learning. The languages seem so foreign to me. I’ve had a very hard time just trying to learn Norwegian.

More than half of those are Swedes!

...and for some bizarre reason, I thought you were talking about Norway. My apologies.

NP, Wolfram :)

I just listed some good Scandinavian authors, most of whom happened to be Swedish.

Snow and ice can be a pain in the neck , esp when it's changing from one day to another (rain turns snow to ice , then snow , then ice again etc)
