In my experience, for an autist, learning social skills is very much like becoming a magician: studying and using tricks, illusions, misdirection, and subtle manipulation until they cease to be conscious and become second nature.

Those of us who engage the social world and embark on the quest of learning social skills wear so many masks that we begin to forget what our original face looked like and play so many roles that we begin to forget which one we were born into. The mask becomes our face and the role becomes our reality. We learn to move through the world as if a disguised silhouette at a masquerade and be like the jester who can sense in others what they cannot sense in themselves and uses his insight to lead his audience through the fantasy world that he has crafted for them as they allow themselves to become immersed in the illusion and swept up in the emotion.

As Shakespeare said, "all the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players."

I like black cats best because they're my favorites and they look so beautiful. Also I feel bad for them because for centuries black cats were ostracised and they were tortured or killed because they were believed to be evil and thought to bring bad luck.

As somebody who is gay and has a mental illness I guess I can understand what it's like to be ostracised. :(

Assigned image data to a high poly (color) mesh.
Created a lower poly mesh to use as a reference.
Then used the edges as springs, altering their rest length with the brightness value of the image as a multiplier of the original length, and anchoring all the outer edges.
Then warped the color mesh using the original lower poly mesh as reference, and the warped versions as the targets.
Then saved a series of images of the colored meshes as the effect increased. Also ran it backwards so it runs in a loop.
Used Virtual Dub freeware to add old timey flickering.
Joined the images into a GIF, maximizing the size for forum requirements, which are actually very generous.

Basically, I can control whether the light areas shrink or expand. It does weird things to faces.

I thought it was a decent picture of me; decent pictures of me are rare.
