I can honestly say parts of Georgia really aren't as bad as Alabama or Texas. Especially in North Georgia where Atlanta is. I love Texas's lack of an income tax. Yes, property taxes here are higher but I rent a modest apartment. Yes, the rent probably includes the property tax, and the landlord can deduct the property tax as a business expense which can be passed down in terms of competitive rents (while Trump disallowed deducting property taxes after a certain cutoff like $12,000.)
Honestly, after living in California (which has great natural scenery but is absurdly expensive), I don't think I can ever live in another state that has either Sales or Income taxes besides California. I don't mind staying in Texas but I'd love to relocate to Florida, Oregon, or Washington for a change. I also hate places that get a ton of snow so Wyoming, Vermont, Montana, Alaska, etc are also out.
