i wrote my earlier post with reference to something i heard on the radio when i was driving home from katoomba. the person who was being interviewed said "in the beginning it looked promising, but then it all went pear shaped". i have heard that saying a hundred thousand times, but for the first time today i wondered" what is wrong with the shape of pears"?

It's okay to wish someone dead when they're alive, but disrespectful to be thankful when they're dead?

Sorry, but when you're looking at people (such as world leaders) who had a major part to play in the suffering or deaths of hundreds, thousands, or millions, it's perfectly reasonable to be happy to see them dead. Such people have families but then so do their 'victims' - if they don't respect the people in life, why should the people respect them in death?
