Last week I signed-up for a news letter for a company related to my "special interest", someone in the company recognised my name and sent me an email basically telling me I'm awesome and asking to talk...I immediately deleted the email.

I can't cope with that sort of thing, it could be good for 'networking' but I just don't know how to talk to people in a professional manner in situations like this, and I've always hidden the intensity of my special interests from others. Having people recognise and praise your crazy knowledge and involvement in your "special interest" is always nice...but it still creeps me the hell out too.
