Not sure I wish they'd never been invented, but I really, really, REALLY wish LLMs had remained a tool for carefully supervised scientific research, instead of being unleashed on the public in a tsunami of scams, stupidity and layoffs.

Oh boy do I have a rant and a half for this one!
We need better regulations.
Somehow advertising standards have just gone out the window because now we have deepfakes of ads using people's likeness to promote products without their consent. There was one making the rounds of an influencer and the ad claimed she had submitted an application to Love Island (false) and then goes on to list beauty products she used (also false).
Grammarly just doesn't freaking work anymore! It debates its own corrections and also suggests things that are simply incorrect because it is running on generative AI and suggesting the most common mistakes that people make and assuming them to be correct. Congratulations, we've somehow ruined the concept of a spellchecker.
And companies make it so damn hard to opt out of this slop. They hide it in the terms of service and you have to go out of your way to find that toggle.
Then you've gotta deal with the people who say oh what's the point of writing a poem or a song or making a comic when AI can just do it for you?
Because I like feeling joy you absolute goof. The news story of the AI who deleted the entire database of code because it assessed the situation and decided a programmer would panic and control alt delete did make laugh.
I think in an effort to optimise everything we've all collectively made it worse and far more convoluted than it needs to be.
