Yes, it's becoming increasingly difficult to sign up for things like store loyalty cards (eg Nectar) without supplying a mobile number, and it's becoming more necessary to have a mobile number to receive verification codes for credit card and debit card purchases online.

Gotta admit that I'm completely clueless about how things like Sim cards, monthly contracts, data allowances etc work. I'll probably make a post in the Computing & Technology section asking for advice.

What happens when you have data left over at the end of the month? Can't you use it?

Which Nokia model is it, if you don't mind me asking?

I've had my eye on a Moto G04 (about £79 at Asda), but I think I could probably get away with something at under half that price.

Ah right, Android is an operating system but would suggest you have a smartphone.

£79 is cheap for a smartphone, DeepHour.

I'm not even 100% certain what a 'smartphone' is. Does that refer to one that can get the internet?

"......a cellular telephone with an integrated computer and other features not originally associated with telephones, such as an operating system (OS), web browsing and the ability to run software applications.
Smartphones are used by consumers and as part of a person's business or work. They provide access to many mobile applications and computing functions, and have become integral to everyday modern life."

No i can't carry my data over but I mainly use it from my WiFi at home anyway so I don't even use my data

It's a c12 and I think it was about 70 quid from Argos

You can get dumb phones but you can't really do anything with them
I used this for playing on here with and everything

Yes, generally a smartphone is something that can connect to the internet and can also be used as a small computer.

It also typically has features such a front facing and rear camera, both of which can be of very good quality to even rival certain standalone cameras, especially at the upper end of the spectrum of premium models. There is usually in-built or expandable storage space so that one can listen to music on one's phone or the ability to play videos and other media.

There are lots of 'apps' a person can add to their phone to expand its functionality.

Yes they do a lot of things that your computer can do
