My oven is gonna stink for weeks, I just know it. Why did rinsing out the cleaner have to be so hard?

today i had a couple of hours to kill, and so i decided to learn chinese.

after a few minutes, i was flabbergasted to learn that the chinese alphabet (if it can be called that) contains between 40,000 and 80,000 characters (no one really knows (more is the surprise)) . in english, we can write anything our minds desire using only 26 characters by assembling words that use those characters to define them phonetically.

it seems that the chinese alphabet has about 60,000 characters, and so i suspect that each character is equal to a whole word. so if every separate word in the chinese language can only be represented by a distinct character, then one would have to be very diligent in learning all those characters in order to write even a simple sentence.
what a cumbersome way to assemble and document a thought.

i had only to learn 26 building blocks to assemble the words to describe anything i could ever want to say.

just imagine the size of chinese computer keyboards. 60,000 keys (characters) would take about 205 square feet to house (using 1 cm buttons separated by .5 cm) , and how would one reach the required key they wanted to press in the center of the pad without treading on unrequired keys on their way to their required key?

there would have to be a cherry picker mechanism that you can lie horizontally on, and it would position you over the button you wanted to press given your joystick input, but it would still be a very difficult operation to pen classic tales in that manner.

who knows? not me.

Noooo, I'll have to wait till Monday to buy tickets because I can't remember my Oztix login and it's registered with my work email. Or I at least think I'm a member. I wouldn't get weekly spammy emails from them if I wasn't.

I've been thinking of getting a Baphomet sticker for my adjacent front window myself.

Is Parks and Recreation what passes for comedy these days? It doesn't make me want to stab myself in the temple with a fork like The Big Bang Theory, but it's still pretty atrocious.

Today I realized why I have been feeling sleepy at work this year. It is not due to my sleep deprivation, but due to a few very tedious tasks I have to do. Fortunately, my boss acquired a bar code scanner, which I can use to import the information in the receipts (I work at a public accounting office) without having to type every single one of them. I stayed awake for the entire day for the first time in months. This means that I am not at risk of losing my job anymore and I will have more time to focus on the interesting parts of my job, like calculating taxes and answering our clients' questions (I particularly love when they ask about things that are not in my area of expertise and I figure out the answer anyway).
