yes trains are a direction of thought to follow. there are many trains of thought.

but i prefer living at home by myself.
how could i ever have done this otherwise?

There's a train crossing on the way to work at the other office and every time I drive there and home I hope the boomgates come down and the lights start flashing. Ain't nothing cooler than the sound of 20,000 tonnes zooming past .

I just wish there was a website tracking them so I could predict when to see them. Freight trains that is.

I start looking left and right repetitively each time we begin to cross the rails; I don't trust mechanical objects, such as the gates and lights. Naturally, you can rarely tell beforehand if there's anything coming due to the fences and buildings that are obnoxiously blocking the view for anxious [and train loving] people.

At least it'd be quick.

I had me a little scare once with some lady stopping to give way to traffic so she could turn right into her driveway which was right over the other side of the crossing. I had no choice but to stop behind her ON the crossing. You betcha, the red lights started flashing while I was stationary and on the tracks . Luckily there was nobody behind me so I could reverse before the boomgate came down.

And that is why there should be a "No Stopping At Any Time" sign applicable to the 20m after the crossing.
