Definitely! Personally I think some songs were written to be coping songs.

I have wondered that at various points in my life. And even though I live an objectively wonderful life (financially secure, plenty of food/water, roof over my head, surrounded by people who love me, etc.), found the right combination of meds to control my issues, and I have a handful of hobbies that I like to dabble in, there's still a part of me that feels unsatisfied with life; like something's missing or there's a part of me that's unfulfilled. I feel like I can never just totally "let go" and let myself just be happy. My mom even pointed out that I seem to actively sabotage my own efforts to be happy.

So that all leads right back to your question: am I doomed to live a life of shallow, temporary contentment, mired by my futile chase for an elusive something that will provide me with the fulfillment I seek?
