the cold in my hands.

Wondering how I'll be abused at work today.
Haven't had anything thrown at me for a while.
I prefer physical abuse to that sly psychological abuse a lot of them use.

Shouldn't you tell someone that you're being abused?! Isn't there anything you can do? Is there some way I can help?

^ Abuse is part of the job.
I report the physical abuse.
I was body-slammed repeatedly one day, had a thumb tack stuck in my thigh another day.
Been threatened with sharp objects.
Had chairs, scissors, food and other objects (which I won't mention) thrown at me.
I've been bitten quite a few times.
That's ok.
I'm quite used to it.
The personal comments really get me down sometimes, however.

Um...I'm really sorry, but how can you be used to it? How is it in any way okay? I'm just concerned.

You get tough, I suppose.
The only thing I couldn't take was one guy who used to lick me.
Ugh.
(I work with disabled people - some quite severe)

My dad is an EA, but the worst that ever happened to him was getting bitten once.

What's an EA?

An EA is an Educational Assistant, but is basically someone who takes care of the special kids.

Oh, ok. They're called TA's here (Teacher Aide)

Weirdly enough, whenever I'm in the special needs room at school, I feel like I'm 'among my own kind', so to speak.

There's some really delightful people I work with too.
That makes up for whatever else I have to deal with.
It's not all bad.

You're welcome! I can't stand it when someone's in pain or hurt, so I always try to comfort them somehow.

I don't like washing my hair, since it's always difficult.

So glad I found a forum that is caring and supportive. I finally feel accepted...so to speak.
