I've learned that if I apply at only the places that I want to work, like GameStop, GamesNGo, Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books, etc, and they are (as it seems they have been) "fully staffed", then the likelihood of my being hired is decreased as compared to applying ubiquitously. If I am offered a job at a place I have no interest in, but no other places offer employment, then my choice is, effectively, continued unemployment or employment in a place I do not have any interest in. In that manner, seeing as employment tends to be necessary for the procurement of money and money seems nearly necessary to live in this world, in that respect it is the hiring manager who makes the choice of whether a person is employed or not.

Wanting to speed through life and have everything given to me at once wreaks havoc on my mental stability. One step at a time is the better advice here :)

I've learned that appearances seem to matter more than reality, especially in regard to memories of events.

My dog is afraid of going into a pool. Of course she's also afraid of...every other thing, so it's no surprising. Her greatest enemy is our black trash can. My brother put her in the trash can out of curiosity and she literally flew out of it. Most hilarious to watch.
