I've been feeling a bit lonely lately and so I've been obsessively posting on WP this weekend. I was in the middle of writing another post when there was a knock on the door. A new neighbor who moved in a month ago stopped by to ask if I'd be interested in helping him with a new movie camera he bought. I went up to his house and he showed me the Mitchel 35mm movie camera. To make things even better, I knew my way around the camera well enough to be able to open it up and show him how the magazine mounted and how the film was threaded. He and his wife and I talked for a bit and I really enjoyed their company. And I think they enjoyed mine. They loaned me a book by Noam Chomsky and I loaned them a camera manual that had some information on the guy's new camera. I think we might be becoming friends.

A commercial on TV reminded me that another Tim Burton is coming out this year - Frankenweenie! To be honest, I wasn't that excited about it when I first heard about it, but now that the release date is creeping (no pun intended) closer and I'm learning more about the movie, I'm starting to see the potential for a new special interest. Hopefully it won't be a letdown like Dark Shadows was. But I have little reason to be worried, since neither one of Burton's previous stop-motion animated movies flopped. Plus he's remaking a movie that he himself made many years ago, so he's right in his own element. And since Frankenweenie is a Disney movie, I'm looking forward to lots of toys based on it. I'd love to have a plush of Sparky!
