So, "The rain in spain stays mainly in the plain" was a lie?! I always suspected Rex Harrison wasn't to be trusted! :|

prof. henry Higgins valued results and was a pragmatist in terms of how he got them. if that meant bending the facts to make for a better elocution exercise, then so be it. :dj: IOW he was trying to teach eliza Doolittle to not say "RYE-n" instead of "RAY-n."

I much preferred the way Eliza spoke.

"Come on, Dover! Move your bloomin' arse!"

I think that was the first time American censors approved such coarse language in a movie shown in America, back in the early 60s.

auntblabby, you had asked me previously about the star trek universe using land based ranks? Well, I was referring to Star Trek Online mmo game however, as to why the game tends to utilize non-naval ranking system is beyond still, I'm glad to have made it to Colonel but, being part of an online is not the easiest part in terms of the rank though..

am sure it is challenging. if you were ranked according to TOS, you'd be a captain [0-6]. just like kirk and the others. keep in mind that a land-based captain is an 0-3.

I started coming down with what I think is the flu on Christmas Day.

I think that I'm about over it now.

When I was little, I used to look at those Coca Cola ads, you know the ones where the teenagers are playing volley ball on the beach and thinking, "They look all grown up. I wonder when I'll be at the age when that happens for me? "

Then I remember seeing another one of those commercials many years later after I'd surpassed their age thinking, "I guess it's not going to happen for me! "

Oh well.

I don't know. Probably more mental development, or rather lack of.

I never really wanted to be there. I guess I saw it as a maturity milestone but I just never attained it.

Never had enough friends either and volley ball on your own can get very tiring! :)
