thunderstorm! thunderstorm! thunderstorm! i think one is about to break!
i guess going to uni also made me happy today. i really like my education classes.
i experienced a howling terror for about 20 minutes this afternoon. there were winds that made all the trees flail and flex far beyond my expectations of their suppleness, and i was braced for disaster while i watched the guts of the storm proceed sightly to the west of me.
i was thankfully spared of what i saw in the valley about 1 km away. i live in the blue mountains area
it was tempestuous but also really muggy for a winters day.
i know. i drove down to "stanhope gardens" (near blacktown) to get the weeks takings from my driver, and as i descended down to sea level i could feel a rise in temperature and when i got to penrith i had to switch the air conditioner on because it was 29 degrees celsius. when i got out of the car at my drivers house, i was suddenly aware that it was very humid, and i was glad that i was able to get back in the car and go home within 15 minutes.

the wind tore through the streets with much force, threatening growls came from the sky, sheet lighting pulsated through the clouds and the occasional bolt pierced the heavens but it didnt shake the ground or split my ears with its sound. it was mild. i'm in the middle of sydney.
up here in the mountains, i was standing on my podium near my favorite window and i watched the gutter of my neighbors house start to flap wildly in the wind. i could feel my house trembling as well.
as i was leaving my house at about 12:15 pm, i opened my front door and it was forced back into me and i had to wrestle with it to prevent the handle from hitting the wall it was trying to blow toward. i then latched it to the wall latch.
when i opened my fly screen door, it instantly wanted to fly off, and i had to hold it with 2 hands to let it swing back gently in the direction the wind was blowing until it was wide open and flush with my wall. then i went back inside and unlatched the main door and i had to pull it with 2 hands. it was very hard to close it (i am not physically weak). then i arduously closed the fly screen door and latched it in, and i drove to sydney.
there were stressed trees swinging madly around and there were many leaves and branches and twigs on the road in places, and my car was buffeted by winds that caused me to constantly correct my direction , and i was worried what was happening back at home. it takes 70 minutes to get to my drivers house, and obviously the same to get back, and i spend about 10-15 minutes with him so it takes a minimum of 150 minutes to "do the rounds" .
i knew i would not be back home for approximately 3 hours, and i got more and more worried the longer i was away (considering the wind storm).
when i got back home, a thunderstorm happened and it was epic. i am glad my house is unscathed. the more i trust the robustness of my house, the more i will enjoy storms.
