During one of my random web wanderings, I came across a CNN opinion article advocating against adopting the metric system in the US on principle. The only argument I personally find plausible in keeping the status quo relates to the cost of such a large-scale change – and I still don't find that argument particularly convincing.
Mind you, I respect that the author was even capable of coming up with such a considered and coherent piece for that kind of a position, even if I find a lot of his arguments flawed. I still can't tell if he was serious or trolling, though. If the former, then it's a wonderful testament to human diversity; if the latter ... well done.
