In that case then, don't you think it might have been a wise move and beneficial for yourself to have kept your original username. It's hard to trust people as it is sometimes without people swapping and changing usernames and casting confusion all over the show.

And as this is a support site you might have got more support if people knew who you was rather than being uncertain of who you are. I definitely was in avoidance of you because of my uncertainty about your identity.

I hope you get what I mean.

You've not really done yourself any favours.

Should I get drunk?

I am thinking about it, got a few beers and I don't feel like sleeping, depressed, etc.

My computer keeps turning itself off and on again.
Is it possessed?
Do I need to perform an exorcism?
I think the old "have you tried turning it off and on again?" is a bit redundant in this case.

First off, I am good with computers, second off, I have some what sobered up.

Anyway, have you hooked up anything new to the computer, it could be you are over powering your power supply which if thats the case you should be happy. Cheap power supplies would just explode under these circumstances. If thats not the cause, is it powering off completely or is windows resetting, you could have a virus if the latter is true.

When I say have you hooked up anything new thats including USB devices, try unplugged some stuff. If that doesn't fix it, it could be your power supply is not giving the same output it was before, meaning your power supply could be dying.

How old is the computer?

Thank you.
I haven't added anything new, except for a new motherboard.
It's completely powering off, then restarting in about 5 seconds. Repeatedly.
As for age, that's tricky.
It's been rebuilt a few times.
If I take out the power cord from the back, wait a while and plug it back in it seems to stay on longer.
I've tried unplugging a few things, I'll see how it goes.

Glad you've sobered up :)

Possibilities,

1. Bad power supply, replace power supply and see if problem persist
2. I suppose the power cord itself could be bad, do you have another one?
3. Inadequate CPU cooling, check temperatures, ideally you want under 80c, preferably under 60c
4. Inadequate GPU cooling, check temperatures, ideally you want under 100c, preferably under 80c
5. Bad video card though they normally cause artifacts on the screen, is anything graphics intense running?
6. Bad Ram, run memtest86+
7. Bad Motherboard though unlikely cause they tend to not boot when bad
8. Also unlikely but your outlet could be providing dirty power, a battery backup can solve this

I've pulled the power - it was getting beyond ridiculous.
On my iPad now.
I think I'll let it chill and have a look at some of those things you mentioned later.
Thanks again.

I've actually had a few glasses of wine myself now.
Feeling pretty happy :D

Next time.
Whenever you have the urge to drink alcohol, drink lots of water. When you've had 3 glasses of water the urge to drink is much much lower.
