i snatched success from the jaws of defeat.
the story is complicated (in my opinion) but i finally found out a fact that will benefit me in the future as well as provide a level of pleasure that i had not yet realized could be had.
anyway, i was eating my boiled eggs (soft boiled where the albumen is completely set, but the yolk is runny) with my toast strips.
after i finished, i went to prepare my chocolate milk which, today, was plain whole milk with chocolate topping mixed with it.
i usually pour the chocolate topping into a large plastic tumbler to a certain height which i measure by it's surface proximity to a rib ring on the cup, and then i slowly add dollops of milk and mix thoroughly, and then gradually blend in the rest of the milk until the cup is full.
this form of chocolate milk is not my preferred form (which is store bought) for the reason that i have always found the viscosity of the milk to be too thick (high) after being mixed with topping syrup, and also i found it to be slightly "sickly sweet".
today, i thought i was embarking upon a catastrophic situation when i started to pour the chocolate topping into the tumbler and i realized there was not enough topping and i had no other chocolate milk. i freaked because i MUST follow boiled eggs with chocolate milk and i could not be bothered driving down the road, and even if i could have been bothered, i need to drink the milk within a few minutes of completing the eggs.
so i put the plain milk back in the fridge, and i got a stool and sat down and i held the topping bottle upside down over the tumbler for about 5 minutes until the frequency of the droplets of topping dripping from it were less than 1 every 20 seconds.
i did not bother to swish plain milk around inside the topping bottle to collect every last bit because the temperature of that milk would rise rapidly, and i like my milk very cold.
so, to cut a long story short, i poured the plain milk in while stirring until the tumbler was full, and for the first time i realized i was putting far too much topping into the tumbler before. it was sweet to the correct degree, and it's viscosity was far lower and therefore more thirst slaking.
i very much like how it tasted and i am glad i did not have a meltdown.
