If I remember, correctly, they were called Whistle Pops, or similar, here (in the US).
I'll look for info and post it. It's piqued my curiosity, anyway.

Here you go, Kip (and others) -

http://candyaddict.com/blog/2007/08/21/ ... stle-pops/

There's a thread of comments, below the photo. One poster mentions them coming with little sheets of music. :)
These look a bit more modern than the ones I remember.

Here's a link, to the variety that Eve has referred to - I remember these, as we would get them in an Italian deli we would frequent.

The anticipation, excitement and suspense that runs throughout my very being before opening my once a year fortune cookie is nobodies business.

"No news is good news" was the message I found inside.

What a f*****g let down.

I must say that at least once a day to myself anyway.

I've got to wait another year now for my next installment of ancient Chinese wisdom.

I want to go home.
But I don't want the New Years party.....
It'll be one more time everyone else gets to be happy .... I don't like it when all the norms takes over my space :(
And act like I'm the one who's weird.

One thing that has always perplexed me is, why in God's name can I not put three exclamation marks together at the end of an interjection, exclamation or after a rhetorical question I wish to without the forum software wanting to split them up?

I mean, is that not ridiculous or what!! !

I'm going to make myself 'ambergerz for lunch and (if I'm still hungry) a lamb baked dinner for dinner.

No caramel malted milkshakes though. My GOD, did I make myself sick on those last week!

This is surely a flaw in the system.
