Well, it's 6:42am (I've been out here for over an hour doing this) and I'm out in the backyard with my BBQ going (natural fire, not gas) and I'm seasoning my cast iron skillets.
This little baby is a Griswold "EIRE" antique No.3 709 C skillet made in Eirie Pennsylvania yonks ago.
This one is the real deal:

This little baby has been floating around the U.S. since cowboys were cooking baked beans on open fires since the old days.

And now, it's found its intended owner here in Australia. Someone who loves it. Someone who will take care of it. Someone who knows how to properly season cast iron to get the best non-stick cooking properties out of some of the best cast iron that has ever been made in the world.

They don't make them like this anymore!

That cast iron piece of cooking equipment reminds me of my grandmother as such, for she used such in her day when she was alive. Thanks for the memories ImAnAspie. :))

I always thought such a thing was possible, but this is still the first time I've heard of it actually happening:

CBS News: California twins born in two different years

You're welcome kazan.
These things are sold in junk yard and garage sales all the time and people have no idea of the history, family sentiment, worth or cooking ability of them. Many are treasured family heirlooms passed down from generation to generation because

a) they're fantastic cookware;
b) they never die;

As I said, they don't make cast iron like this anymore.

Now, if you get your hands on a good Griswold Spider, you're laughing.Those babies are worth a fortune. And very rare!
I guess that's why they're worth a fortune.

If I had one, I don't think I'd cook in it.

I had a chance to buy one once on ebay but $1,000 + was a bit out of my range then.

I take it that a great amount of things both cooking wear and other items may have inherent value even if other people don't see it..My mom has ancient tea kettle as well as coffee maker..

Pure decadence at its best. Pure hedonism!

There's a fried egg to go with that.
I'm going to end up the size of a small city!

I made the mistake of agreeing to go to Dave & Buster's for my dad's significant other's birthday. I had no idea how big and loud this place was, especially the giant arcade. I had to go outside, but I can't home go yet because she's not done playing some game. I hate this I hate this I hate this...

people who take themselves so seriously like grumpy teachers who keep shouting, i used to think of their underwear and how funny they would look like wearing them.
