I finally started rebuilding the extra engine I have for my Metro. I had the cylinder head rebuilt by a guy who specializes in the Suzuki g10 3 cylinder engine almost two years ago, but hadn't started on the bottom end until last night. Today I spent the afternoon cleaning and painting the tins and scraping gasket residue from everything. I still have to finish disassembling the bottom end so that I can check the condition of the bearings and oil pump, but so far it looks like I just have to do rings and gaskets. With this engine's modified head, custom ground cam, increased compression, and advanced cam timing combined with a different transmission with taller gearing and taller wheel/tire combination, I am hoping to get up to 60-70 mpg on the highway and 45-50 mpg in the city. I may not be financially able to compete in the various home brew engineering challenges around the country, but that doesn't mean I can't still plan and build something awesome.

i had to drive 80km to sydney (bankstown) today for a meeting at 2pm which lasted for 10 minutes, and as i was driving back home along the m4 expressway (to the blue mountains), i saw billowing thunderheads forming over the mountains and it was an otherwise clear day, and the cumulonimbus clouds were a delightful sight. there was no mention of them in the sydney weather reports i was hearing periodically on the radio.

about 10 minutes after i got home, there was a very energetic thunderstorm (that was more than an hour after i first saw the clouds with me traveling toward them at 110 kph for more than 3/4 of the way )

the deluge was torrential, and i have never seen rain that heavy in my life. it was thunderously heavy. it was enthralling to watch.

after the rain started to abate, i thought the storm had passed, but then the electrical activity spiked and there were many very lightning bolts that produced an almost immediate thunderous "crack" which is an awe inspiring sound.

this afternoon was a pleasant one for me.

i have been a little techy because of various stressors and on the train home from branch today a man stopped me and asked me about my posters. i told him they were for a same sex marriage rally and i noticed the alchohol on his breathe. he proceeded to ask me if i was gay, tell me it was cool i was bisexual whilst he leered at me and start telling me what the definition of marriage was about. he demonstrated by making a ring with his fingers and sticking his index finger through it. at this point i decide i want to talk to this bigot because i gotta work that frustration out somewhere. he is anti-abortion and anti-stem cell research. he warned me not to go walking at night and tried to deduce my religion/ethnicity based on my political beliefs. racists are always stumped by the fact that im arab and left wing. i was angry at him but i do not think he got it. he was pissed so i am not surprised.

also good talk tonight by a chilean comrade whose family fled pinochets coup about the student rebellions in chile. he showed us videos of the stunts they have been pulling. there was a kiss in which we were told went for a long time and we were not shown all of it and a zombie flash dance to michael jacksons thriller in front of parliament. why cant we have zombie flashdances in front of parliament? no fair.

Something that made me happy (yesterday) included watching the Hound of the Baskervilles episode from the second series of Sherlock Holmes (on BBC). 8)

It's a wierd thing to be happy about, but I've been getting phone calls from a number I call a "ping" because they have great timing but never say anything. Finally today they said hello, and I was happy about that. I think (hope) it was a move in the right direction.

i spent the day studying with the guy from my education class. i like talking politics with him and our class is very political. we talked gender poltics and about the trickle down effect and local schools, local decisions. we laughed at the emo vs. jocks report that the last group had presented in class again. it never gets old.

Quote:
emo boy utilises a number of other techniques to attract a mate, which include vibrant splashes of colour, piercings, dark eye make up and black nail polish.

Quote:
these lovely little jerks come in all shapes and sizes. be on your guard... usually an attractive guy that plays on allot of sports teams, dates the hot cheer leaders like in the movies.
i feel bad for them. kinda. one did talk through every other presentation so...
he also wondered why i was getting adjustments for my exam so i told him. best response: "really? i have no idea what it is. no really do you? i have no idea how to tell." uncontroversial and end of story. somebody who didnt tell me i didnt have ASD or it wasn't obvious and could admit total ignorance.

i also bumped into my comrade on the way to study and he told me of his woes with his right wing small-l liberal teacher who marked him down for being a leftie. he reasurred me my exam would be ok. good talking to him.

i got 80% on my essay for social perspectives on education. i have no idea how. it was a last minute job and i swear there was no content in it, it was just me ranting about racism /anglo-supremacy in the education system and legacies of colonialism and imperialism and saying the system should be culturally responsive and engage with instead of change cultures and blame ethnics for the systems failure. classmate got 74 but had 10% deducated for being late. i hope he goes really well in the test tomorrow. i dont want him to fail. he needs 14% more. he has worked really hard and is proud of himself.

i had an egg, lettuce & (mild) cheese sandwich today and it was very satisfactory. (at 2pm)

i also bought a plain long bread roll from that shop that i saved for dinner.

at 7:30 pm, i went to the fish and chip shop that i like and i presented them with the long plain roll and i ordered a "battered fish roll with the bread roll buttered and not completely sliced through, and coleslaw as the accompaniment to the trimmed and battered fish fillet.

it is such a divine semblance of flavor and texture that i think it is possible that they may add my commonly requested production order to their stable menu.

correctly trimmed battered fillets of fresh fish taste so nice when laid into a buttered bread roll that is also loaded (moderately only) with sweet coleslaw. the sweet and salty counterbalance makes the dish very palatable in my opinion.
i swallow in remembrance of that dish.

i have to go to sleep now because there are things i have to do tomorrow.

I don't know; meeting Aspies in Seattle in my prep for me moving to the LA area will make me happy.

This was yesterday, but still within 24 hours.

Driving home from getting my van fixed I got to see my odometer hit "123456". I was so happy I nearly cried. I even pulled over to take a picture. That made my week.

I love how nice it is outside; despite the slight rain.
