When I ask a rhetorical question and people actually answer . . .
For myself (and likely a few other aspies), the problem arises from not knowing the question is rhetorical.
NTs do it too, which is more annoying because they should "know".
If I knew how they do it, then I could do it too.
I meant NTs can take rhetorical questions seriously too and start answering, like "I don't know, do I??" And I'm like "I wasn't expecting you to know, it was just a matter of speech."
Ahh . . . yes, that bugs me too!

Boring threads that never go to the second page.

When I make a verbal comment or observation to people, and they interrupt me to say "What made you think of that?", meaning I'm not a linear thinker.

???

I don't know what made me think of it. My brain, perhaps?!

It's hard enough with mutism, ADHD (racing thoughts), and ASD (always making connections between ideas, and thinking of tiny details or patterns). Now I'm supposed to deconstruct what I'm thinking and explain what made me think it? Should I describe the neurobiology of ADHD or Mutism, or offer a book on ASD thought?

(How about a book on manners?)

Maybe I'll just make a print-out or wear a sign saying "Don't Ask".

Boring threads that have about 10 pages and hover at the top of a forum for months.
(But I don't mean this thread, as this ain't a boring thread).

When people leave litter at the bus stop when there's a trash can in the bus stop (and I don't mean bits of paper that might blow out, I mean cans and stuff upright on the seat).

When us British feel we have to Americanize everything when we post because American people don't seem to understand.

The Women's Forum

It's either trivial topics (Do you shave your legs?), or serious questions (e.g., private gynaecological issues).

The serious issues tend to be answered by men, and usually with incorrect or potentially harmful information.

I can never decide if there should be a women's section or not.

1) Because of nonbinary / trans-inclusion (all threads should be for all people)

but at the same time

2) Because cis men tend to mansplain even when women are discussing very private matters

(I agree there could be a more defined "Men's Forum" but that brings us back to inclusion and gender rights.)

Sometimes I feel like people post these trivial topics just for something to post.

Guilty lol, but I understand why it might be a pet peeve to some.

Those count to one million threads. They appear on 'view new posts' and get in the way.

(I'm glad I never tried answering a gynecological thread on here :) that would be embarrassing)

Your questions aren't a problem Joe. It's the answers that slay me.

By the way I'm not just referring to your questions, but to all GYN questions answered by cis men - presuming of course they aren't OBGYNs.

Is it usually the same man?

I don't mind men posting in the women's discussion but sometimes if they use it as an excuse to sexually pry or make dirty jokes then it can get a bit annoying. Otherwise input from men is welcome.

People that say they will do something and then make no attempt to.

Example:

I emailed a woman at my former workplace on 2 April, 2015. She said she would look into my question and get back to me asap. I'm still waiting. One of these days I'm going to ask if she's completed her seven year investigation, or where I can buy the published report.

People who treated me like crap when I was destitute have been seeking handouts from me since I recovered.

People for whom the mere fact that they have a belief is sufficient proof for them that the belief itself is true.

That sign's a cool idea. What made you think of that?
