I bought some more fish fingers today. :D

And some lightly dusted whitebait,
a bag of calamari,
and a couple of fish pies,
oh and some tinned mackerel.

I've never been to the UK. Should I visit?

^It depends on what sort of things you're interested in. We have some very nice bits but most tourists never see them cus they go to the same places and just meet other tourists.

What would you be looking for in another country that would please you most?

The UK is much more than London remember. Long slow days down on the coast in the westcountry, amazing countryside in Wales, stunning scenery and hills in Scotland. Or go look at all the castles and historic building we have here. Much of that is free or cheap to see.

I would say yes but that is because I live here.

There are plenty of marvellous places I haven't yet visited - I would agree to give London a miss unless you enjoy the hustle and bustle of a busy smelly city.

What do you like to do on holiday? An active one? Or relaxing? Walking?

I bought 250 tins of mackerel in 2008, when they were on special offer in ASDA. I've still got quite a few left, as you can see from the picture. Their expiry date was in 2013, but I had some for breakfast earlier today, and they're still absolutely delicious! :D

How much did they work out per tin? I always get the ones in the tomato sauce (not the spicy which are disgusting and in an identical tin  ) mostly from Tesco but they're about 78p. I've tried others but they either weren't as nice or similar price. We don't have an Asda though, so I've never tried theirs.

They were 33p each (3 tins for £1 actually). They're in sunflower oil, which I think is best for preserving them.

I've also got about 80 tins of sardines, bought a few years later for about 40p each, I think. About half of these are in tomato sauce. I don't like the spicy versions either... 8)

I usually have plenty of tinned fish in the cupboard but you sure do beat me with hoarding - only on the tinned fish, though.
As long as the tin hasn't been breach I see no reason not to eat these after the expiry date.

Fish is so versatile and tasty. I make all sorts of dishes with them.

When I was single , this is how I shopped ( never bought that quantity though , my dole would only feed me for a week or so ), I lived on tuna , sweetcorn , tinned new potatoes and pasta for every meal for years.

edit: My GF is a food snob and would never let me eat like that now - b***h

 gotta have salad cream with T&S not flipping mayonnaise ( Bleurgh ! ) like the GF. I hate the taste of mushrooms and cucumber ( I think my taste buds are missing the part that likes vegetables except potatoes ) which made eating magic mushrooms as a teen a masochistic ordeal

I have returned to my hovel, blooded but unbowed. Well my ear was squashed the whole time. I'm just starting my second cup of tea of the day and it's ten thirty and I've been up since quarter past six. I think that's serious deprivation.
How stretched is the NHS that it doesn't give you a cup of tea after it's done all sorts with you in their weird machine for an hour and a half. At one point I thought someone would shout 'torpedo, load, fire!' and I'd be ejected out the other end.

The brain scan (which was first) seemed to take ages, struggling to find something, I suppose. But the noise ***** ****! At least there was air conditioning. Someone might tell me what they found at some point but I won't hold my breath while I wait. Hopefuly that's the last MRI I have but if I did have to do it again then at least I know I can do it.

Well done Fluffy, you survived !

Its not so bad after the event is it.

No tea, I know it is a disgrace.

So now you have the wait.

It does seem like you were in there for a long time. Unusual.
