That's why I don't say hello to strangers (or in this case, possible acquaintances). Too often the door gets opened a bit, and they leap right through it, latch on and never let go. When I met an old co-worker for the first time, within 5 minutes of meeting she had told me every bad thing that had happened to her in the past decade.
I'm trying to learn not to talk to strangers.
If I'm in a cab or meet someone I'm not going to be with for more than a few minuts (up to an hour), I can talk my head off and act all NT but if they latch on to me, I clam up. I'm not the person they first meet. I'm friendly for about the first hour and then I get bored with it and shy and run out of things to say and just want to do my own thing.
That sounds terrible but it's true. That's why I wear earphones now. So people don't disturb me.
Am I horrible?
I just don't have that much to talk to people about (not what they'd want to hear) and I'm not really interested in what they have to say. In all the time I've been alive, I can honestly say, no one has ever said anything that really took my breath away or interested me. It's always "Nice day!" or "How about those Bulldogs?!" (football team - I can't stand football) and we can all see if it's a nice day or not - which is very subjective anyway.
Hmm - b***h session. Sorry.
