equestriatola-- Thank you! I was psyched to go get together with those folks-- haven't seen most of them in years :) Not quite so thrilled about driving in the intense snow, but it was worth it.

aussiebloke-- Sorry, not sure who that is!

Not sure about this being an "attractive" picture, but I posted my rockin' space leggings in the other thread, so I figured I'd post it here too :D These are so fun!

Thank you lol-- I'm often tempted to cut it off since I've had it short before, but I love being able to do intricate braids and stuff with it, so I keep it long.

And yes, bears and syrup :D I love northern places (my special interest for a little while now has been the DEW Line and all of its stations are in the far north, so that led to a fascination with and study of northern Canada, Alaska, and a few other onesie twosie locations), so I was trying to think of things that are associated with the north lol. Bears and maple syrup came to mind :)

Polar bears and Maple syrup.

Thats an interesting special interest. I have a similiar themed interest about the 'limes' whch was the wall the romans built in germany to seperate the roman empire from the barbarian germanic tribes. It was in the 0-250 AD period.

What is it about these barriers/lines ?

By coincidence, I was stationed along the more modern version of our early warning line as recently as 1997, in Iceland, but I guess that is beyond the classic DEW line time period. All new installations were built in the late 80's, but in some locations the old radar systems and facillities were still there and falling into disrepair and ruin. Very evocatve.

But about the hair it doesn't do any harm to have to have it short for periods of time, though best to avoid damaging by excessive treatment/coloration. Whatever makes you and your close one happy. It does stand out as exceptionally full, natural and healthy looking, like you see on the magazine covers.

AnonymousAnonymous-- Thank you!

Toy_Soldier-- Oh neat, okay! I haven't heard of the limes, but now I'll have to look them up :) I love when folks mention things that I've never heard of before because it lets me learn something completely new! Always an exciting experience :) And yeah, I've found that surveillance and defense systems that surround a super power's sphere of influence tend to be both at the forefront of technology for the time and massive in breadth, so they really are just breathtaking.

Were you really?? The North Warning System or something else? Were you at Keflavik? Navy or Air Force? Sorry for the third degree, this stuff is just totally fascinating for me lol.

And YES, oh man. I just found out that there is an old mock-site that the US built while they were planning the DEW Line stations out in Streator, IL which is only an hour or so from my in-laws' house! I am THRILLED-- My husband and I are going to drive out and visit what's left of the facility next time we go back to see his folks. Going to Cambridge Bay in Nunavut is a big goal of mine as well-- they actually have TOURS of the old DEW Line site, though now it has been partially converted to a NWS site that is still active.

And thank you :) I just recently got about 8 in cut off (it was really long before) to keep it healthy. I don't really blow dry or curl it or anything, I just take care of it as best I can. Simple is best for me :)

I hope your husband feels how lucky he is, and acts that way.

PS i hope these words don't make you feel uncomfortable...i have no desire to do so. This is my perspective only.

slave-- Thank you, I appreciate the kindness. It doesn't make me feel uncomfortable, or at least no more so than the vast majority of compliments do. That's something that I'm working on getting better at-- my psychologist (for PTSD, not AS) thinks that it's a necessary part of lowering my social anxiety. And my husband is a very, very good man :) Trust me, the luck runs both ways. He is patient with my meltdowns, losses of executive function (he'll pick up all of the slack and do all housework, take care of our daughter to give me a break, etc. so that I can recharge by myself), sensory problems, and my bullheaded, no-BS personality :D In fact, he loves me for them. I asked if for our tenth anniversary, we could go to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut to visit the DEW Line station (my special interest) and go dog-sledding and he said it sounded perfect for us. I am very blessed.

aussiebloke-- I am not formally diagnosed. I found out about Asperger's for the first time about seven months ago. Once I read about it, I spoke in depth to a friend of mine who is a licensed psychologist and who works with ASD and she agreed that I very likely have Asperger's Syndrome.
If I get a formal diagnosis, then since my husband is in the military, I am required to join the EFMP (Exceptional Family Member Program) and then even though I do not plan to seek therapy for AS, we would only be able to be stationed places that provide (and have open slots for) ASD-related therapy. That would be extremely harmful to my husband's career, so I have chosen to refrain from getting diagnosed until he is close to retirement. In my personal opinion, it doesn't make me less of an Aspie-- I just never claim a formal diagnosis.

Misslizard-- Thank you, I appreciate it. I like to think that I'm fairly friendly :)
