I had more money in the bank than I thought I did! A check had cleared and I didn't notice it at first. It's usually the other way around for me. 8)

The Little Bride whupped up a pan of cornbread and we ate like big dawgs. In fact think I have another bowl for supper..lol. Thats make me happy.

I made veggies and potatoes in my little Crock Pot with Italian dressing...three meals out of one pot full!

i moved to the area in which i live about 8 months ago, and i have sampled various "takeaway shops" (i.e shops that cook hamburgers and fish and chips and battered saveloys and roast chicken etc etc), and with respect to hamburgers, i have not been pleasantly surprised by the rusticity of any particular burger. i like burgers that have meat patties made from 100% beef, and i do not like pork or spices in my meat patties.

i also am particular about the hamburger buns, and i do not like sesame seeds on my bun.
many times i go to woolworths (a major grocery store) and purchase a bag of buns that satisfy the specifications of my requirements for a hamburger bun (but i unfortunately have to buy 6, so 5 of them are invariably thrown away (i wish i could buy those buns individually)), and i present the bun i choose from my 6 buns to the burger cooking person and i advise that i wish for my burger ingredients to be installed on the bun i gave them.

anyway, there is a takeaway shop 4 km down the road (a 4 lane 80km speed limit road) which i was going to buy some food from about 7 months ago (1 month after i got here), and while i was waiting to be served i saw a fly that was marauding in the display case, and the owner seemed to be oblivious to it, and as he said "hello" to me i walked out and decided that it was a filthy shop.

the town "up" the road is 5.5 km away, and so today whilst i was considering the source of my lunch, my mind returned to the shop 4km down the "road" (i live on a mountain), and i speculated that his shop would have gone out of business by now if he sold food that was substandard because the local paper for that town has a "readers comment" page, and the readers comments demonstrate a high level of taste and aesthetic discrimination, and i thought that a shop that was filthy could not survive in such a community, so i went down there and got a steak sandwich (that is a thin steak cooked at a high temperature on a dribble of oil, and soft egg and a mild cheese slice (added after the assembly of the sandwich and not pre-melted) and semi caramelized onions and lettuce and 1 beet root slice and 2 slices of ripe tomato. the bun must be buttered liberally.

the steak sandwich was excellent and there were no flies in his display case today.
so i am very happy that i have found a new, easy to access an satisfactory source of nutrition.
