Built a computer for my mom out of old parts I had laying around. Took a week to get it assembled and working, but glad to have saved her some $$$.

i recently ceased to source the products for my business from a supplier that i had used since 2010, and i settled my account with them, and i was happy to see the back of them.

about 4 weeks later i received an email from them that stated that i still owed them approximately $5,800, but as far as i was concerned, i owed them nothing.

i maintained that :

i always paid my accounts in full for each successive week, and if i had paid an incorrect amount, or missed a week, i would have been immediately advised by the "squawking hawks that kept their eagle eyes on my account" that i had made a mistake or an omission. (i did not use the words in quotes. i used the word "accountants" instead)

they dismissed my response, and they said that according to their accounts, i still owed them $5,800. i asked them to explain how i owed them that amount, and they sent me a printout (! !!) of my entire account history with them. they did not send me a database or spreadsheet that i could quickly get answers from. they sent me a damned printout.

anyway, i considered using an optical code reader to parse the scanned document to turn it into a *.csv file, but considering it was only 98 transactions, i decided that it would be easier to manually enter the figures into a spreadsheet rather than write a series of programs to compile in an "interrogable" (oh dear that is not a word but now it is) way, the printed version of the entire data dump i was sent.

anyway, i simply decided to enter the "invoices to me" components of their printout in one column, and "payments i made" in an adjacent column, and i had a "freeze panes" imposed on the first row that contained the sums of the successive entries in both columns, and also an "owed" column which was the subtraction of the sum of the "paid" column from the sum of the "owed" column, and it turns out that they owe me $3,612 ! !!

it is there in black and "white". it seems to me that they were taking notice of their "running total" column which was not updated correctly on a number of dates that i have highlighted, but without consideration to the "running total", if i sum what i owed, and subtract the sum of what i paid from what i owed according to their own data, then they owe me $3612.

it would have been better for them to let sleeping dogs lie, because now they have roused me, they are obliged to pay me $3612 which i would never have been moved to realize without my resistance to their misplaced greed.

I made a breakfast for my extremely picky mom. She said it was "perfect"

Now that I have completed my Christmas shopping, I went to my local thrift store. :D

I got three new sweaters out of it.

Spent the entire day at the mall with my mom in order to give her some ideas of what to get me for Christmas. The shopping wasn't stressful at all as the shops were mostly empty, I found some really cute clothes (that my mom actually approved of and agreed were cute) and best of all, afterwards she couldn't stop telling me what a wonderful time she had and what a joy I am to be around. Needless to say, I had a wonderful time! :D

Another interest rate cut. I could rent my house out and make a $30/week profit.

Finally getting started on a presentation that's due Friday, had me anxious that our group had a late start.

there was nothing that made me "happy" today in particular.

i never really feel "happy" anyway. i have never been able to be educated as to what happiness is in the same way that a color blind person (red-green) can not be told what "red" looks like. i know that "happy" people feel well and have few complaints, but there is some other element to it that i will never uncover. i feel more a sense of complacency, and i have few fundamental worries, but i can not consider myself as happy because i do not know what it means.

there are a variety of circumstances that can make me very impatient and/or displeased.

today, none of those things happened, and i was not displeased at any point, so i guess that is what made me "happy(-x)" today.

I had my tree on for most of the day. This time of the year always makes me happy. I'm not one to pretend that Christmas never happened. :)

my knitting is going well and i can do basic crochet now. old people think i am cool because i can work a pair of needles and a hook. the lady who helped me said next time i cast on i should cast on 38 stitches. it'd be going better if i weren't too fatigued to knit though.
