Cats can adapt pretty well to the mountains.

I think I can get along with most cats who have a hint of sociality. All I have to do is let a cat lick me. They're hooked then!

He trusts me so much Kraftie. He even lets me hold his back feet and kiss him on the tummy and that's VERY RARE for a cat. Especially for one who came from such disturbing origins. Mistreated, didn't trust anyone, extremely aggressive to THE MAX!

Now, he sleeps with his tummy exposed - I can walk up to him, step over him and kiss him on the tummy and he doesn't even stir.

Interspecial love and trust - That's what I'm into!! !

About the same time I was into Jeremiah Johnson and CB radios, I also wanted to become a monk (after a field trip to the Cloisters in Upper Manhattan).

Yep - I'm with you on that as well. I wanted to be a hermit and become very spiritual!

I remember, in my 30's, I read about the Irish monasteries which overlooked the sea.

I wanted nothing more than to sleep on a slab rock, overlooking the sea. Or, if cold, in a cell which overlooked the sea.

The European monasteries are, probably, what preserved "advanced" ideas in an age which disdained them.
