About the temperatures here:

"Mardie, where the state’s hottest temperature of 50.5C was set in February 1998, was forecast to reach 49C, Mr Bennett said."

Here in Sydney, it can get up to the low 40's occasionally - but it's the humidity that really kills me.
And it's hot most of the time.

No Way - That'd hurt and I'm allergic to pain.

I'm also allergic to exercise. Every time I do it, I get really hot and break out in a sweat! :D

I've seen Melbourne go up to 115 Fahrenheit. That's about 47 Celsius.

The all-time record high in New York City is 106 Fahrenheit, or 41 Celsius.

It's hot and humid in summer, though. The high temperature rarely is below 27 Celsius during July and August; whereas Melbourne (and Sydney) have plenty of 20-25 degree high temperatures in January and February).

I believe it gets extremely hot in Death Valley - I guess that's why they called it Death Valley! :roll:

It's been about 58 Celsius in Death Valley. I would say they get about 20 days a year where it rises to above 50. I've seen MINIMUM temperatures there of 39.

It's pretty cold there now: The average high is about 16, the average low about 3. Once in a while, it even snows there.

In Summer time here, it can get WAY above 25 Celsius. I remember some Christmas Days where I just wanted to die. Stinking hot day! Oven going, room crowded full of people. No air conditioning back then. People smoking. Fibro house, no insulation. Not a breeze to be seen.

All you could hope for is the Southerly would blow up in the afternoon and cool things off. We don't seem to get Southerlies any more.

I'm guessing it depends on where in Sydney you're located. If you're located in a more inland location, you'll get at least a trickle of the Outback weather.

In New York, a 25 degree high in July/August would be an anomaly--unless it's an all-day rainy day.

I've always considered it very good and interesting that, although we're from different countries, we can all speak and write the same language and understand each other. I like that.

I think it'd be really boring if you came from a small country and the only people you could converse with was your own kind.

When I used to be with my partner, these were our cats:

Cleo was actually meant to be my daughter's cat but she latched on to me.

I used to sit on the lounge and both of them used to sit in front of me and stare at me. It was kind of freaky but nice!

They used to call me the Cat God (my family - not the cats)


Cleo was my baby girl but Kathy (partner) and Sophie (daughter) always used to joke that one day, Cleo and I would elope! LOL
