I live in Manchester and quite often hear German voices. Either Manchester is good for Germans for some reason, or a lot of flights get routed through here.

I would say Wales is good for quiet, though in some places they'll switch to Welsh when you're nearby (out of rudeness). Lake District, New Forest, Cornwall (if you don't mind crowded tourist spots). And you're never more than 70 miles from the sea. Granted, most of it is grey, but it's definitely sea.

Was swimming in the sea off of south west Wales today, it was freezing, but fun.

I am going to hire out a wetsuit tomorrow to do it again as I have just been in wearing shorts and t shirt so far this week.

Something for everyone really.

Much of England is comparatively small. It's really North Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland that are less densely populated. Most of all, Scotland is the most sparse. Did you know that Scotland makes up about 30% of the entire land area of the UK?

I wouldn't bother with the Lake District. Too many people, too busy.

@Temeraire: Normally I like calm areas to go on holiday, but it really depends on the area where I'm going to. I'm fine with going on an active holiday as long as the people there are friendly enough (enjoyed my visits to Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy, for a few examples). London seems like somewhere that would be a bit stressful, probably because of the amount of noise and people there. Feels too crowded. Also capitals are a bit of a problem for me because:
1) my English is a bit poor.
2) I'm mute.
Often meeting new people is hard because they interpret my limited ability to communicate as being a form of rudeness, or they think I'm deaf.
I'm German, and I was also wondering where there would be an area outside of London with a good population of German tourists and/or expats. Just wondering.

We know you're a German, don't keep going on. You're Bavarian, you have a blue and white chequered flag like the F1. Right. Let make me a recommendation - the Azores. Portuguese, nice-looking food, decent beer and wine, friendly-looking people (they even wear flat caps), the landscape is very green, quiet, very hilly so there's plenty of mountain walking, should be an Aspie paradise.

The locals probably don't speak too much English outside of the main island, so take Google Translate with you. I think that's about it.

I just appealed another parking ticket from one of those private parking companies that supermarkets use.

It can be such an ordeal to get around in time with my multiple problems that this is a regular occurrence for me.

I do know of some people who have just paid the fine but if you have a valid reason and proof of being a customer such as a receipt then they will often dismiss the charge. Sometimes just being a customer is enough.

This is worth knowing if anyone here has had any problems with these time-limited parking spots. I only went over the 90mins by a few more minutes. Unfortunately, the camera is automatic so doesn't understand human problems.

If it's an hour and a half you can't expect to get reimbursed for your trouble if you've spent 90%+ of the time in a shop other than the one you're claiming the refund off. Although they waive it as a goodwill gesture. It's really more about punishing overstayers by telling them not to take the piss.

You weren't in Aldi or Lidl were you? God only knows why you'd want to spend more than about thirty or forty minutes in there.

^I don't think Temeraire is hanging about in supermarkets past her time limit for fun.

I wouldn't worry Fluffy, as Tequilla is a cheeky bugger.

But I do appreciate you defending me and being a kind and understanding citizen of WP.

Tequilla I sentence you to an hour in the naughty corner for taking the piss out of the disabled.

Do you still use dunce caps for recalcitrant pupils in the UK?

LOL. Did you get my PM? You might like what I have to say. It's nothing to do with my last comment by the way.

By sending a response to me, Miss.

If it's severity, I'm not in. I wouldn't want the Saudi-style judicial experience. They make a serious mess of the skin.
