Ed Sheeran won my heart some time ago with this film clip.
It's in British Sign Language but the signs are very similar to what I use.

Well is was great up till I got kicked out of college for the semester :x. I'm going back into Geo or Hist in the fall.

Fukang Meteorite, one of the more interesting things I've seen

Ah, yeah I can see how that might put a damper on things! I briefly majored in History. I find it very interesting, but it so happens I suck at remembering all of the important details (of the areas that don't interest me).

That is an awesome meteorite! The way the fiery parts shine through reminds me of opal veins:

Do geology courses cover the study of meteorites or other extraterrestrial specimens?

Don't be, I needed the break. Geologists aren't perfect after all we do have our faults. Schist happens. Now instead of going to the most grueling summer field camp in the departments history, they altered it this year for some reason to be shorter and more intensified, I'm instead going the Pacific Crest Trail for the summer.

 So many times I've thought the words of a song were different, and some of the alternatives my brain dreams up are pretty amusing.

Yeah, it's nice when I find an artist/band I like that goes against my typical preferences.

We covered meteorites somewhat, mostly in mineralogy where I learned about the Fukang meteorite. A lot of the program is geared toward oil bearing sediments.

Did you know that opals aren't actually a mineral with a crystal structure. They're an amorphous solid, SiO2 hydrated with water. They can actually be dehydrated through heating and destroyed.

Reminds me of Labradorite. If I ever get a high paying job, this is what my counters are going to be made of

The PCT sounds like it will be a great adventure.

Yeah, I've learned my lesson and google the lyrics or find a YouTube with lyrics before I go around singing it too much. I've been caught out in the past.

No, I did not know that :D, I am now interested in looking into the dehydration process. Fascinating!

Wow that would be an amazing counter-top! We have the T-Rex restaurant (Disney) here and they have massive Amethyst pieces built into the wall. It gave me the idea of having an entire wall like this with varying types of geodes/rocks/minerals/etc.

Haha, I've embarrassed myself so many times doing that! Now I just roll with it 8).
This song I swear they're singing about lederhosen:

^ I can't make out a single word in that.
Are they actually singing?

Beautiful opal, reminds me of labradorite.

I've been doing Android things with marshmallows in my Java...

^
^ yes, I looked up the lyrics and apparently their singing:
"People won't be people
When they hear this sound
That's been glowing in the dark at the edge of town"
(there's more but this is the chorus)

I think it's the "people won't be people" line that somehow sounds like lederhosen to me.

I always thought this band was singing about "Beach Balls".
I couldn't make out any other words, but I was hearing beach balls in the chorus.
Weirdly, it's called "Beautiful People".

I hear "beach balls" way more than "beautiful people." It'd be funny if that's what they where singing about.

You know I buy some pretty random stuff, I just brought potassium iodide for nuclear fallout lol

Its meds to help with fallout from nuclear weapons, I wanted it for a while and I just brought it. I think I am becoming a survival nut, I have enough rations to survive at least five years up in my apartment. Now I just need a few pounds of marijuana and my life will be complete in the event that the world ends. Too bad the latter would never happen with that being illegal since I am scared to even have a joint on me.

Lets see, I have rations, gas mask, potassium iodide, water filters, and matches. What am I missing to be a full on nut job with a tin foil hat?

When the band first appeared on TV, they actually had beach balls on the stage.
Just to make it more confusing.
But there's definitely no beach balls in the lyrics :P
