Mum used to call Dad's stereo "the coffin" because that's what it looked like.

Ah, now I understand. We had a similar thing but ours also had a record player. When I was a little boy, I accidentally pulled the thing over on me.

I learned how to change records at a very very young age. I was fascinated how it could hold the records up on the spindle in the middle and drop them at the right time. It didn't take me long to figure out how it worked once I got the spindle out.

We used to call ours a 'gram'

:D This one was a record player too.
You lift the lid and there's a record player in the middle.
When the record skipped too much, you'd put a 10 cent coin on the arm of the needle to stick it a bit further in the groove.
Oh, the good old days

In fact, I think it was the same. I don't know what happened to it.

I think they were valves. Not sure but so many people still prefer valves over transistors.

This thing fell on me not long after I started walking. I'm lucky it didn't kill me.

All that top heavy furniture with tall spindly legs they had back then was very bad news for the continued existence of toddlers.

Large flat screen TV's are bad news too.

I hate it when Boo does that. He was just in the spare room (my spooky room) and took off out of there like a lightning bolt making a whimpering noise, ran into my bedroom, crouched down staring back out of the room and then crawled under Mum's old dressing table.

I think he's just being an idiot because, now he's running around the house from room to room like a mad cat.
