Dear God, be a vengeful God. Find the strenght to be ever merciless in your wrath; find the vigor to be ever present in our lifes as you rain furious hails of arrows and sulfur upon those of us who have sinned.

Father in heaven, be a vengeful Father. Impale those who have sinned upon a many-pronged fork; leave the fork out in the rain for several days first to ensure its rustiness prior to impalement; coat the fork with somehting highly acidic to maximize the pain upon receipt of its thrust.

Crime-Fightin Jesus, be a vengeful Crime-Fighting Jesus. Send a Mack truck barreling towards a sinners house at speeds upward of fifty miles per hour with its breaks cut while shooting at its gas tank so it explodes moments before plowing into their house and obliterating all in a flaming inferno the likes of which they will not see again until mere seconds later when they descend into hell.

Satan, although I do not pray to you often, be a vengeful Satan as you prod the sinners bottoms with your pitchfork.

The original dramas which took place on radio were sponsored by soap manufacturers. or something to that extent.

Today I discovered that Blind Willie McTell covered the song Motherless Children Have a Hard Time (a song by Blind Willie Johnson). It's one of my favourite songs, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Because of their similar names, sometimes people get mixed up between the two (quite often, for example, a picture of one man is reported as being the other). So, I assumed at first that the McTell cover of Motherless Children Have a Hard Time was just miscredited, but fortunately that wasn't the case.

Actually, the two bluesmen apparently knew each other quite well, for McTell described Johnson as "a good friend of mine" when Alan Lomax (music historian) interviewed him, and said that he believed Johnson was dead based on a letter he'd received from Johnson's wife.

Johnson's death was a sad one, for his house burnt down and, being too poor to go elsewhere, he carried on living in the ruins. He slept in a wet bed, and caught pneumonia and died.
